Alan Bamford was born in Wigan in 1948 and after attending local secondary schools studied at Norwich School of Art [1969-71] and then the Royal College of Art [1972-75]. He devoted himself to full-time painting in 1987 since when he has exhibited extensively in the UK and abroad. He has held teaching posts at various colleges including Maidstone and St. Martins. He lives and works in Battersea and the Dordogne valley, France where he occasionally offers individual or group master classes.
